Big Kid Toys:

While companies like Kenner and Hasbro are taking care of the little kids, some of us big kids get into more high-end collectibles. These are 1:1 scale replicas. LucasFilm licenses some and others are made by fans. Collecting props in general is a sickness that is cured by each new acquisition. Below are some companies and fans that have turned out impressive replicas for us big kids.

ICONS Authentic Replicas 1995-1999:



A group of industry professional got together and attempted to license (among their catalog) lightsaber replicas. LucasFilm made an unpresented move to award licensing to the group of industry prop-building vets. Unfortunately due to questionable and unethical business practices on the part of the executives, not the artisans, ICONS lost their licensing, went bankrupt and is no longer in business. Every so often you can find their replicas on ebay.

Master Replicas 2002-NOW:



The main figurehead in this organization, Steve Dymszo, formally of S.D. Studios, spearheaded the new company set a new standard in prop replication in the retail market. His artistry can be credited with the licensing and selling of replica props from films such as Judge Dredd & The James Bond 007 series. Well established for quality and customer service, Master Replicas was awarded licensing from LucasFilm, despite the bad taste that was left in wake of ICONS.

ParkSabers 1996-NOW:



Jeff Parks is the owner & operator of his own line of original design lightsabers. Since the mid 90's Jeff has produced 10's of thousands of lightsabers sold at sci-fi conventions, trade magazines and the internet. To date he has produced 12 different designs bother as hilts alone or with EL blades. He is also responsible for the design and construction of the real world Mara Jade's lightsaber seen in the Decipher card series (for more info, see Saber Secrets). He is also credited for producing an Obi Wan Kenobi, A New Hope and Phantom Menace version lightsabers for a Decipher card series television commercial.

Larbel Plasmablades:



Larry has created stunning lightsabers in the past, now he concentrates on replicating the Graflex and MPP flashes handles used to make Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader's lightsaber from A New Hope. These flash handles are replicated & built exactly like the originals. Machined from brass and chrome plated, all the detail down to the company stamps. He'll even provide the rubber grips. This is an awesome alternative to paying outrageous prices on Ebay. Larry is the man you want to see.
